Five simple ways to take care of your Baby Skin!

Motherhood brings joy and happiness in the life of a woman, but along with brings certain fears and apprehensions too. Almost every woman who turns out to be a first time mom, has deep within herself a fear “whether she will be able to take care of her little one all by herself”. Will she be able to hold her and take care of the delicate little angel?

When I became Mom three years ago, I too had such feelings and fear deep within myself. I still remember the day when I held my little one in my arms for the first time, my reaction was “Aww! He is so cute and delicate”. His skin were the softest thing I have ever touched. Babies skin are very sensitive and soft, hence needs utmost care to keep it supple and safe.

Here are the five basic ritual which I followed to keep my baby’s skin soft and smooth:

  • Massage your baby: There are many benefits of massage as it adds flexibility to the body, strengthen bones, develop bonding and makes baby skin soft and supple. The best time to massage your baby is post bath as his skin is hydrated and absorbs the oil or cream properly. It also helps baby to have relaxed sleep and develop better.
  • Use toiletries meant for Baby skin: As you know that skin of baby is completely different from an adult skin and so are the toiletries to be used for them. Make sure that the soaps, shampoos, cream, oils, cleanser, whatever you are using on your little ones are chemical free and safe to use.
  • Be careful of fabrics you use for your baby: Have you ever experienced irritation while you put on clothes such as silk, thick layered clothes during hot and humid season. So just think when you cannot sustain such clothes, how will your delicate little one can. His skin is too delicate and hence you need to “Handle it with Care“! Buy clothes according to season like cottons, muslin cloth which are soft and good to use. Also be sure to use soft wool based woollens when its cold. Make sure whatever you are using on your baby skin for the first time is washed, dried and then used to avoid any bacterial infections.
  • Be vigilant while buying Diaper’s: I feel diaper are one of the best invention done in today’s modern world. We mothers have all liberty to go anywhere round the world without worrying about hygienic toilets. But merely buying diapers of any brand don’t help. Do proper research and decide which brand is suiting your baby’s skin and keeping his skin soft for hours. Generally, a diaper on being wet should not turn hard and should generally remain dry for minimum three to four hours. I have used some brands before putting my little one in Pampers diaper. Its cotton-like softness is #SoftestForBabySkin and allows it to breathe, thus keeping baby’s skin soft and healthy, and your baby happy.  Also, make sure when you diaper your baby,  you pat dry your baby skin with dry cloth and apply diaper rash cream regularly which prevents diaper rash and will keep his skin soft and supple.
  • Clean and dry all baby skin folds: A new born baby has the most delicate skin and has many folds around his skin. Make sure that you dry and powder his skin properly such as areas behind the ears, creases of his neck, gential area, folds around his legs, so that there is no moisture retention due to hot and humid temperatures. It will help to keep his skin free from infections and rashes.



Do note that, it is not easy to keep baby skin soft and beautiful as it seems so. A religious routine of above steps will ensure healthy and happy little one. I am till date maintaining this routine with slight changes as my little one is a toddler now, but still his skin is soft and safe.


This Little Light of Mine!!


Life is unpredictable and we never know what is in the store for us, the coming second. Then also we keep planning for future anticipating good in every damn thing. Ever imagined why and from where such spirit comes to us?  It’s because each one of us has a reason to do so, as we have a ray of light which keeps beaming from darkness and make us keep planning and deciding a better life ahead.

For every person this definition of “The Little Light” can be different and can vary too in various stages of their life.  I remember when I was in my teenage years, for me being a successful professional, liberty of buying whatever I desired, dining out and hanging out with friends were the only desires which kept me going and struggling to achieve my path towards success. So, I can say “MY DESIRES” was the “The Little Light of Mine” which motivated deep within me to achieve success. Today I am a Chartered Accountant with all luxuries of life which I dreamt of.

But, when I am a mother, I think that “The Little Light of Mine” has changed from “My Desires” to “The Smiles” of my dearest ones. I think I have evolved in my stage of life and can now better understand and judge my priorities and happiness. I feel that material things do bring happiness, but they don’t last long. Have you experienced a smile which came on other person’s face because of you? If not, then do try it once. It brings peace along with happiness, which lasts longer and refills us with instant energy, and keeps us going.

Being a Marwari, everyone asks me, when are you going to treat us at home with your food delights? We Marwari’s are famous across the world for our love for food and our business skills. I myself is a die hard foodie and love to experiment and learn new skills when it comes to food. Nevertheless, am always ready to eat cuisines of my community, irrespective am hungry or not. The reason being these dishes are so lip smacking and delicious that I can’t stop myself from eating it.

I am writing this post short unlike my other post, as I just want you guys to do check my compilation of all Marwari sabjis and accompaniments. I am sure that you all will love going through and if you prepare it once, you won’t stop making it always.

Health is Wealth! Are you actually minting your wealth?

It’s said “Health is Wealth” but how many of us follow this religiously? In this busy world and fast pace of life, health falls in last category, be it man or woman. We tend to ignore the basic priority – “to nourish our body” so that we can stay healthy and fit. Ever wondered why is it so? I think it’s because we have never considered it on our chart as our basic priority. We all know that we shouldn’t eat without brushing our teeth as it’s harmful for health. But have we ever thought that eating junk food or skipping meals or not exercising will take toll on our health? Definitely we all think so, but we never strive, or say, push ourselves to “Eat healthy and Stay healthy“. I think one reason can be that we have not followed the principle to eat healthy or to exercise since childhood (at least for me it’s true).

But as said “Jab Jaago Tab Savera” (React when you Realise), we should join hands with our partner/loved ones and start following a healthy regimen to avoid unnecessary popping of pills and visit to doctor.

Obesity is a major health issues faced by six out ten people in India, out of which majority will be woman. The reason being she is the one who is the soul of the house. Every single person depends on her, be it for guidance, sustenance or affection. She multi-tasks easily, keeping everyone around happy and her needs last.

I too being woman shared same compassion of multi tasking and keeping everyone around fit and healthy. But I have never realized the fact that in this journey, post marriage I have gained love but am losing my health. I became obese (was 25kgs overweight), suffered from migraine attacks, started falling frequent sick etc. Its been since an year back when I realised that being healthy is not for me but for my family too. How can I keep someone else healthy unless I myself is not fit and fine. I committed myself to regular exercise and eating healthy food which started showing on me and I lost 15 kgs of weight.

I just came across an initiative started by Saffola Life #ProtectHerHeart in which they have listed facts on improving heart health and are trying to spread awareness to keep your heart healthy and you going. I have read many books and researched a lot by reading articles and posts over internet and learnt that slight changes in your lifestyle makes lot of difference on your health. I am listing some slight changes which I have incorporated into my daily routine and which has helped me to improve my heart and keep my family healthy and active.

  • Walk when you talk. By saying this I mean, try to move as much as possible. Don’t sit for hours at one place. Small steps makes lots of difference. Also, it will be great if you can take out half an hour from your daily schedule and walk. It helps in reducing risk of chronic diseases such as heart diseases, asthma, diabetes etc.
  • Use Less Oil: We all know that consumption of oil in generous quantities increases risk to serious diseases. Let me tell you, oil do not has a taste of its own, it just allows spices and food to blend together and hence enhances the taste of food. I follow a ritual of using one teaspoon of oil for one person and cook food accordingly. I should tell you, food tastes delicious irrespective of less oil in it.
  • Drink 2-3 litres of water a day: Make sure that you drink 2-3 litres of water a day as it allows to flush toxins out of our body and keep hydrated. Do you know, times when you feel the urge of hunger, its actually when you are thirsty and end up eating something unhealthy. So tune yourself to water and make sure you drink it too in short intervals.
  • Incorporate colors in your food: Make sure while you are eating food, your plate is full of colors. By saying a colorful plate I mean to say that you should consume combination of all vegetables,curd, milk and fruits. Your diet should include  food rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins and fiber.

What you are eating makes lot of difference to your health, but it do not mean that you can ignore the importance of workout as the ratio of food:workout is 70:30. While you workout, blood flow increases and your heart pumps faster making it healthy and stay strong.
